We are at Ambiente 2016 in Frankfurt and Day 2 was another great day with the “find” of the day being a simple, yet important addition to the hospitality landscape scene…. a possible alternative to the 16 oz. mixing glass so frequently used for serving beers (of all types).
Pasabahce’s new REVIVAL beer glass
While we found other great new products today, the one standout came late in the day at the Pasabahce booth. We think their new REVIVAL beer glass series has incredible potential for upgrading the traditional 16 oz. mixing glass. With durability to last and a shape to accent the flavors of most any beer, new REVIVAL should be a winner for Pasabahce and their USA hospitality partner Hospitality Glass Brands.
Another interesting new product launch came at the Schott Zwiesel booth with the launch of their new AIR SENSE and AIR wineglass ranges.While both ranges are similar, AIR SENSE is mouth-blown and having an special decantation sphere integrated into its design, allowing to speed up the aeration process of the wine. The similar-looking AIR series has a lightweight, delicate feel despite being machine made from Schott’s TRITAN material allowing for significant break resistance and durability. Both AIR SENSE and AIR have thin walled bowls to help maximize the wine drinking experience. AIR SENSE and AIR contain 10 glass sizes in addition to all-purpose tumbler and chanpagne saucer. Their are also decanters for both white and red wines in this range. In the USA, these wineglass collections will be available from Fortessa.
French company Guy Degrenne takes a slightly different approach to wineglass selection with its new ORIGINE series. Five glasses comprise this new range that focuses on five characteristics of the wine: Bubbles, Freshness, Strength, Subtleties, and Balance. Choosing the wine and then be guided in your choice of the wineglass is how Degrenne is positioning this new series.
Other glassware introductions that we found interesting were FANTASY from the folks at NudeGlass. FANTASY is a machine-made, very tall (27cm and 29cm) range of wineglasses designed to offer a very distinct experience to your guest.
Spiegelau continues its high-end beer glass introductions with its new glass designed specifically for BARREL AGED BEERS.
Italy’s Luigi Bormioli also showcased its new BIRRATEQUE line of beer glasses so the quality of the beer drinking experience is going to continuing to rise around the globe.
There were other very interesting discoveries, as well, with Steelite’s new squares, rectangles, and oval shaped platters coming to TERRA MESA, along with new plastic DRINIQUE beverageware and other sourced products as the company continues to try to meet the incredibly strong demand for its CRAFT dinnerware line.
Finally, on the dinnerware side, we spent some time with Spanish producer Porvasal and with new distribution in various parts of the world including North America, we think this will be a dinnerware company to watch going forward. Lots of great shapes, nice designs with both gloss and matte finish glazes, we can see Porvasal appealing to creative chefs in a substantial way.
