Zieher, a German company specializing in glass and porcelain for tabletop and buffet settings, have paired with Silvio Nitzsche, a sommelier and wine expert, to craft a beautiful line of wine glasses: VISION. In designing the VISION line, Zieher focused on the visual aesthetic of the wine glass, capturing a sophisticated and fascinating look. Each glass is shaped to maximize aeration of the wine, featuring a sunken base around the stem which allows for a perfect swirling motion.

What else is interesting about the VISION collection is the function of each glass: each is designed for certain characteristics, not necessarily white or red wine specifically. For example, their robust, wide-bodied BALANCED glass is suggested for a range of wines from white and red Burgundy to rich rosé wines and vintage champagne. As Nitzsche states, “the glass should not overcomplicate the interaction between the glass and the wine, but provide intuitive, playful enjoyment.”

Zieher wishes to remove the overcomplicating nature of wine drinking, and make it more accessible to wine enthusiasts of any level. Whether these glasses are revolutionary is for the user to decide.
