Restaurant business in a funk? The Wall Street Journal thinks so and describes some of the reasons why in an article published earlier this week. Saying that the business lunch is going the way of fax machines and the pay phone, the article also details the widening discrepancy between the cost of restaurant food versus grocery store food. All this, combined with the growing overall number of restaurants per capita could foretell a looming shakeout that will affect both restaurateurs and suppliers.
