Well, now Seltmann has added DIAMANT, a totally new shape and a totally new type of porcelain. This new type of porcelain is unique combination of purity, fineness and lustrous pearlescent finish. After years of research, the company’s porcelain experts have managed to combine the delicate look of cream-coloured soft porcelain with the advantages of hard porcelain. The result is a cream porcelain that not only looks warm and soft, but is also velvety to the touch.
The porcelain body of DIAMANT is fired at around 2700°F. This is the temperature used to fire hard porcelain. Therefore, the porcelain is much stronger and harder, giving it a relatively high edge impact resistance. The much greater hardness of the glaze ensures a long-lasting scratchproof finish. This is exactly the type of attention to detail that Seltmann is increasingly becoming known for. These special characteristics make it possible to create exceptionally thin forms with the highly sought-after translucence.
The new porcelain has been given a name that reflects its unique appearance: “DIAMANT” (diamond).
