The SHIRO collection from SCHÖNWALD makes a very clear statement in terms of its design: in creating their range, Stefan Diez and Andrea Lenardin – two of today’s most sought-after industrial and hospitality designers – have blended Scandinavian minimalism with Japanese grace. SHIRO received a gold medal at the German Design Award 2020 for this exclusive design. With SHIRO GLAZE, SCHÖNWALD now presents this award-winning porcelain with two new colour glazes.

SHIRO with colour glaze
Until now, SHIRO has impressed in plain white. Now this porcelain collection is complemented by two colour variations: SHIRO GLAZE underscores the powerful aesthetic of this tableware, thanks to the newly developed FROST and STEAM colour glazes for hard porcelain. The subtle colours – delicate blue and soft grey – add tasteful highlights and combine with modern food creations to form a comprehensive visual artwork.
The cloud-like character varies with each porcelain piece, showcasing their distinctive hand-crafted individuality. The colour glaze makes the surfaces of the textured tableware stand out more, as it penetrates into the fine indentations and thereby emphasises them. The colour-glazed surfaces are, of course, just as durable as those of hard white porcelain. In total, the collection comprises 23 pieces per colour glaze – including 11 textured pieces and 12 plain items.

FROST and STEAM – perfect for combining

The FROST and STEAM colour glazes harmonise perfectly with one another and can therefore be combined in interesting ways. When arranged alongside the white SHIRO pieces, they create an inviting table setting. Here the interplay of porcelain with both smooth and textured surfaces creates charming contrasts. With their Nordic understatement, the smooth cups get a cosy flair thanks to the new colour glazes. The wide range of colour-glazed cups, bowls and plates provides plenty of possibilities for adding a completely personal touch to table settings according to your own taste. Daily service in bistros, bakeries and cafés can be mastered with both style and ease.
