The new PEKOE Collection from France’s Revol Porcelaine is a line designed by Lucas Frank to celebrate the art of tea. Pekoe is the most delicate and fragrant kind of black tea, made from the first harvest of the plant, and especially from the young shoots.

The product of a finely tuned harvest retaining only the young shoots, Pekoë tea gives its name to this set in an homage to both its delicate design and its superb quality. At both tea-time and at the dining table, the contemporary lightness and minutely executed aestheticism of this collection set the stage for a high-class tasting experience.

In counterpoint to the current trend for uneven ceramics in all their imperfect poetry, young designer Lucas Frank’s overriding aim was to pay homage to the high technicality and precision of the material as it is used in this industry.

At ECAL, the famous Lausanne art school where he was trained, Frank absorbed the central precepts of a rigorous creative grammar inherited from Swiss-German philosophy, which demands a highly concrete design approach centered on function.

Jugs, sugar and other bowls, plates, teapots and bamboo trays were introduced alongside the original cups to create the ideal vessels for tea-times inspired as much by the gourmet aesthetics of French tea-drinking as by the pure lines of Asian tradition.

Made of black clay with a special black smooth finish it has a delightful touch and handling. The inside of the cups and teacup has a dark metal aged sliver effect. The teacup and the saucer interlock perfectly which ensures stability while serving your tea. This collection is strong and resistant and it will enhance your tea experience. Treated with an aged-silver or dark-metal enamel on the inside, the cup conserves its exterior of raw black paste but this is polished to give a soft, sensual feel when held in the hand.

Decisively functional, the fin motif – a heat dissipater inspired by the fans of LED lamps – allows you to hold this cup with no handle at the same time as vouching for its complete stability on the saucer on which it sits so perfectly.
