“Figgjo Tri – geometric, yet organic,” says designer and Head of Design at Figgjo, Morten Engebretsen, about the new set of serving platters Figgjo TRI which is just launched this past week.

With the desire to create a set that is particularly suitable for buffet dining, the result is a unique shape that spices up the table setting. The TRI shape itself is based on an equilateral triangle where the corners have been given a soft rounding. The curvature between the surface and tab is generous and open around the entire shape.

The dishes are left with a geometric, yet soft and friendly expression. The inspiration for TRI is taken from Figgjo’s rich assortment. I wanted to design products that could be combined with- and link existing products together. At the same time, they should also act as free-standing platters.

“My aim was to capture the expression in the transition between curves and straight lines,” says Engebretsen.

Because of its rounded curves, Figgjo TRI accompanies well with most other products found in Figgjo’s range, especially round bowls and dishes that complement the organic look.

The series is made up of three serving platters of different sizes, the word ’tri’ being a nod to the local Figgjo dialect’s way of saying the number 3.

The largest dish in the set is perfect for sizeable pasta dishes or salads in a buffet. At the same time, the middle size allows you to combine several of the TRI shapes and at the same time vary the size as needed. The smallest plate can be used both for serving or as a half deep bistro dish. When it comes to how to combine Figgjo TRI to create an exciting expression this is up to the user, here Figgjo relies on the chefs’ creativity and presentation ability.

In the USA, the Figgjo is represented by the team at MTucker Company.
