With the recent terrible storm hitting the New York area and millions still without power up and down the East Coast of America, we did not quite know what to expect from this year’s International Hotel/Motel Restaurant Show here in New York. Keep in mind that many of the exhibitors entire booths, samples, literature sent in for the show were destroyed by flooding and plans had to be, in some cases, totally re-done from the very beginning.

So, our hats go off to not only the exhibitors, but to the trucking companies, the set-up people, the Javits Center staff, and finally to George Little Management who manages the show. Without what had to be extraordinary efforts from everyone, we doubt this show could have taken place. So, kudos to all for the determination and flexibility that allowed this show to go on as scheduled. So, with all that, there were very exciting products we discovered on our brief, Day 1 walk through of the show.

Now, if you want to differentiate the dinnerware you serve your guests on, be sure to see Jono Pandolfi Designs and his many organic dinnerware and accessory pieces created in his New Jersey studio. Jono’s special creations grace the tables of such restaurants as 11 Madison Avenue, NoMad Hotel, wd-50, and others. Handcrafted vs. manufactured helps describe Jono’s truly unique designs, yet this talented artist has organized his company so that he may meet the many practical demands that restaurateurs have. Jono’s dinnerware helps make dining a very sensory experience. Before the show started, we had said we were looking forward to learning more about Ancap Porcelain. And, we can state clearly that their designs look better even in person than they do in the pictures. With true Ialian designs, Ancap keeps the coffee and espresso experience true to its original pleasures. With the correct size cups, the proper curve of the cup bowl, and an overall sense of balance, Ancap takes the espresso drinker to a small cafe in Rome with each sip.
And, the best thing we found out is that Ancap is stocking in America now, which makes deliveries to restaurateurs never a problem. Great design….and great service….form Ancap Porcelain.
