December 8, 2011—Newell, WV—The Homer Laughlin China Company (HLC) has relaunched the venerable Hall China foodservice line of specialty chinaware. Hall, acquired by Homer Laughlin in spring 2010, is being re-launched with a reduction in pricing on over 80% of the items in the line. The price reductions followed six quarters of investment in plant operations and the sharing of technologies between Homer Laughlin and Hall China specifically targeted at streamlining production capabilities. The price reductions were made effective September 1, 2011.

Further proof of the excellent synergy between the formerly competing china companies, located only miles from each other, was the announcement in November 2011 of a new labor agreement that was marked by quick consensus and no threat of delay to the company’s day-to-day operations.

The announcements of the price reduction and labor agreement followed through on the original incentive for Homer Laughlin’s acquisition of the neighboring china manufacturer—that Homer Laughlin and Hall China, by combining their manufacturing expertise, would be able to produce a lower-cost yet superior-quality product while improving the lives of everyday people working in both plants, revitalizing the region as a whole.

Joseph M. Wells III, Homer Laughlin company president and CEO, says, “By bringing together two giants of the commercial dinnerware/tableware industry, we will be able to better leverage the knowledge and experience both companies have. We hope our respective customers will continue to look to us for the highest quality, value, and dependability.”

To continue to reduce costs, the standard color offering for Hall has been reduced from several dozen colors to 16. These colors are Scarlet, Tangerine, Shamrock, Cobalt Blue, Paprika, Sunflower, Forest Green, Peacock, Maroon, Ivory, Green, Lenox Brown, Bright White, White, Black, and Brown. Hall has also added an all-over colored glaze program that complements Homer Laughlin’s colorations program on 28 popular items. The first joint venture from Hall and Homer will be the Divided Healthcare and Scoop Plates.

Hall China is now part of the HLC family of companies, alongside Homer Laughlin and the Kenilworth line of fine dining china, bringing customers the most complete dinnerware offering in the industry. Homer Laughlin and Hall China, leaders in their respective specialties, together offer a comprehensive range of attractive, durable, and cost-effective commercial dinnerware, serving ware, bakeware, and tabletop accessories for foodservice institutions.
