CLARET is the new color for Homer Laughlin’s top selling Fiesta dinnerware

Color has coming back to restaurant tabletops and, with that, The Homer Laughlin China Company (HLC Inc.) announced their newest color for their ever-popular Fiesta® dinnerware line.

Claret, a rich, deep red with purplish undertones, made its debut in the classically collectible Fiesta line at the International Home + Housewares Show in Chicago in March.

Fiesta was introduced by The Homer Laughlin China Company with great fanfare at the Pittsburgh China & Glass Show in January 1936. The original five colors were Red, Yellow, Cobalt Blue, Green, and Ivory. Turquoise was added early in 1937. Fiesta’s shapes were created in an Art Deco style, with concentric circles in the rims highlighting the vivid colors. Over the 79 years since Fiesta’s creation, 47 colors have been introduced, making the line a trendsetter for color in the housewares and foodservice industries alike. Restaurateurs and institutional foodservice operators love to brighten tabletops and delight diners with Fiesta’s range of colors and shapes, which can be mixed and matched to amp up or dial down the color range to suit their own styles of plating and presentation.

One new Fiesta dinnerware color is introduced each year, and equal parts secrecy and enthusiasm surround the launch. Fiesta has only 15 colors on the market at any given time. So with the introduction of Claret to the Fiesta color spectrum this year, Plum will be retired; it had been in production since 2001.

Claret will be available in the late third quarter for foodservice; however, the company does take pre-orders on new Fiesta colors. Traditional foodservice items include dinner sets, serving bowls, platters, cups, and mugs, plus a full line of tabletop completer items such as pepper shakers, sugar packet holders, sauceboats, and more. The Fiesta foodservice lineup is available online.

“The warm wine color of Claret brings a depth and elegance to the Fiesta family,” said Katie McIlvain, foodservice and general marketing manager for HLC. “Claret mixes well with many of Fiesta’s vibrant hues, offering a rich, almost royal accent.”
