When it comes to design in the hospitality industry, like many other industries, color is important. So, it was interesting to hear from a color expert how food & beverage will be influencing color in the coming years.

From consumer publication HFN, comes the story on a presentation that was to be presented at the recent International Housewares Association show in Chicago. Food and beverage, wellness and sustainability will influence color in the coming years, said color expert Leatrice Eiseman. The key to attracting consumers’ eyes will be through combining colors in new and unexpected ways, she added.

Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute and color expert for the International Housewares Association (IHA), was scheduled to deliver her annual color presentation at canceled The Inspired Home Show 2020 in March.

And, when it came to food & beverage, here’s what Eiseman had to say in the HFN story…

“Food is a natural tie-in for housewares and interiors because it’s so integral to our sense of well-being and to our very existence,” said Eiseman. An interesting color note: Anything with yellow-based color releases the “feel-good” chemical serotonin in our bodies; think comfort foods from around the world such as macaroni and cheese in the U.S., dim sum in China and purees in Africa, she said.
