Churchill China is reporting that it’s first half 2015 business was up three per cent to £21.4 million in the six months to June 30, thanks to the performance of its hospitality division, according to local newspaper, The Sentinel. In addition, overall profit before tax increased 12 per cent to £1.6 million.

Alan McWalter, chairman of Churchill China, said: “Churchill has continued to perform well and I am pleased to report a good performance in the first six months of the year. We have delivered further growth against strong comparative figures and the hospitality business has again achieved a record performance. We are confident that the continued growth of our markets and the strength of our position within them will enable us to meet our expectations for the full year.”

Sales to hospitality customers increased by £1 million over the period, with the business focusing on product development and manufacturing capacity in the division which supplies pubs, hotel, restaurants and the healthcare sector. Export sales to Europe were nine per cent ahead of 2014, despite the weaker euro, while the company’s performance in other export markets meant it recorded double digit revenue growth overall.

Mr McWalter added: “We have delivered an increase in profitability, built upon the growth and resilience of our hospitality business.
