Designer Catherine Hurand

The beautiful and elegant glass collections from Catherine Hurand add instant glamour to any restaurant’s tabletop. After all, her designs are unique glass works of art that bring both eye-catching appeal and the desired practicality that our industry requires.

And, in the 400+ pages of the 2019 Steelite International’s Collections product book (you can’t really call it a catalog… now, can you?) it might be easy to overlook the short, relatively small collection from this talented French designer. But, then, again….it’s really the details that make all the difference, oftentimes, isn’t it?

Organic forms and a texture that’s a perfect complement to Steelite’s porcelain, that’s what Catherine Hurand brings to restaurant tabletops around the globe. All adding up to a nearly subliminal touch that transforms a meal into a dining memory.

We were fortunate to have had the opportunity to speak with designer Catherine Hurand at the recent HOST show and here’s what she had to say….

Venus from Catherine Hurand and Steelite International

The glass serving piece designs from Catherine Hurand give operators a chance to free up their imagination when considering their food presentations – both at the restaurant table or in a hotel’s buffet.

As for the practical elements of her designs, Catherine Hurand points to her Venus designs, which are seemingly free-form, yet each Venus piece is uniform in shape, offering stackability.

“This juxtaposition of uninhibited style with uniform structure creates the perfect piece for optimizing both practicality and presentation. To make the sparkling frost of the dawn dance,” says Hurand, “I’ve played with fire.”

Combining a collection of inspired designs, made from high quality, toughened glass with colorful hues – all locked within the glass itself – the Catherine Hurand designs from Steelite International will make your food presentations much more than simply just another meal.

Subliminal beauty with the desired practicality.

And the promise of more to come soon.
