According to Irish publication fft.ie, UK catering supplier John Artis Limited has announced the acquisition of 70% of its share equity by leading German porcelain manufacturer, BHS tabletop AG. Based in Chessington, Surrey, Artis is a leading name in the UK out-of-home table and barware markets and has been established for almost 70 years.

The day-to-day management of Artis remains unchanged, with directors and staff maintaining their existing roles, but with the additional management expertise from BHS tabletop AG. The company will continue to operate from its premises in Chessington.

Speaking about the event John Artis commented: “We are thrilled to welcome BHS tabletop AG as equity partners. Our objective, as always, is to provide a range of products and a level of service and continuity to the Hospitality and Foodservice sectors in the UK and Ireland that is second to none. This exciting move will help us achieve that and more. From a personal perspective, I wanted to pass the company, which is my life’s work, into strong and capable hands. My fellow shareholders and I are looking forward to driving the next phase of growth for Artis in harmony with BHS tabletop AG.”

BHS Tabletop is the parent company of the Bauscher, Tafelstern, and Schonwald dinnerware brands.
