One of the oldest working glass factories in Europe, La Rochere (est. 1475), continues to put out distinctive yet subtle classic French glassware. The traditional values of hospitality run deep and warmly through the 500+ year old company. This stands pretty clear with lines like their LYONNAIS and VERSAILLE donning a thick classic monarchial goblet shape. However, possibly their most noticeable shape takes form as ABEILLE.

ABEILLE is embossed with an iconic bee silhouette harkening back to the symbols used on Napoleon’s coronation luggage. It stands confidently with a modern clean squared silhouette sitting atop a significant and sturdy pressed glass stem, giving it a significant weighty feel in your hand. It’s versatile nature make the entire collection perfect for a casual candle-lit dinner or an upbeat Sunday brunch in the country.

Ultimately, the proof is in the pudding about the success of this glass given its 20+ year history as a best seller for La Rochere. We recently spoke about glassware trending nostalgic and ABEILLE is one of those examples that manages to capture a timeless enchanting look without standing out as gaudy.

Of course a line as popular as ABIELLE, also referred to as BEE, can’t exist for 20 years without a few updates. Those updates come in the form of dinnerware additions. Plates, bowls, ice cream cups, egg cups, and a carafe all earn their place in the catalog as great companions to the drinkware’s design. You can also find a green variant of ABIELLE.

With a strong French heritage embedded within the their centuries old molds, La Rochere continues to maintain their distinctive approach to glassware design and we’re excited to see what’s next for them.
