Joe Stafford

This past week, we were lucky enough to be able to have the great opportunity to sit with Joe Stafford from State Restaurant Equipment in Las Vegas. The conversation ranged from why he loves hospitality so much, his tabletop philosophy and the incredible tabletop showroom that he and the team at State Restaurant get to work from every day. Joe even gives shares his thoughts on what might happen if State were approached by possible suitors in this current wave of industry consolidation.

Of course, State Restaurant Equipment is the enormously successful, tabletop-focused dealer that specializes in working with some of the most unique customers in the world – the Las Vegas marketplace with all its great hotels, gaming resorts and restaurants.

If tabletop is the centerpiece of the State Restaurant Equipment strategy, then Joe Stafford is their star sales quarterback – and their most passionate cheerleader. Joe’s lifelong passion for hospitality runs deep and that came through loud and clear throughout our conversation.

And here’s how it went…

With all the large hotels in Las Vegas (according to Wikipedia, 24 of the world’s top 50 largest hotels are in Las Vegas), it might at first appear that selling tabletop there would be easy. But, just like any other top travel destination, the Las Vegas hospitality market is extremely competitive with its own set of idiosyncratic complexities. Selling in Las Vegas is nowhere near as easy as it might seem. Joe Stafford and his colleagues at State Restaurant Equipment have been leading the way for the past 20+ years.
