Tabletop Products

There seems to be no end to the creativity and beauty of today's tabletop products. Here's where we hope to show you the products - dinnerware, glassware, flatware, linens, and accessories - that we think are worth a little special mention.

Bascially, cool stuff....from cool people. For other cool people.

More Coolness from Studio William

British cutlery company, Studio William, has introduced a totally new concept in entertaining with the launch of LEAF, a multifunctional and sensual tool designed for eating desserts. Inspired by the ancient Asian tradition of using nature’s leaves as eating utensils, LEAF can be used to scoop, prong, slice and present different styles of dessert. Its unique design injects curiosity and fun into the desert course, and will immediately spark conversation when placed on a table.

LEAF is weighted, yet balanced, and manufactured using highest quality 18/10 stainless steel. Its brushed satin surface adds a sensory, textured experience when placed in the mouth.

Melbourne's Ingrid Tufts created these cups and saucers for Dead Man Espresso and Common Galaxia.

Uncommon Cuppas

While they are renowned for the great food and coffee, the owners of Melbourne's Dead Man Espresso and just-opened Common Galaxia differentiated their guest experience further by having local potter Ingrid Tufts create special cups and saucers for them.

It isn't really only about the coffee, now - is it?

Studio William Divided Tasting Spoon

Picture
Maybe one of the best examples of thoughtful tabletop is the Studio William Divided Tasting Spoon. A perfectly balanced, small - demi-tasse size - tasting spoon (the U.S. quarter is there as a size reference) with a small ridge in the bowl area to keep two flavors distinct and separate until they are in the guest's mouth. Studio William's William Welch has given every attention to the little details....and, after all, aren't the details what it's all about!

It's little details like this wonderful little divided tasting spoon from Studio William that take your guest from having a good meal to having a spectacular dining experience.

Remember.....we are not in the food & beverage business as much as we are the dining experience business.

Crucial Detail's Palm Bowl

Crucial Detail is a multidisciplinary design practice whose projects range from product development to graphic design, corporate identity, and photography.
In 1998, Martin Kastner established Crucial Detail with the idea of exploring and blurring the boundary between design and art. The foundation of this idea is a belief that while function is the primary element of any design project, its conceptual and aesthetic aspects demand equal attention to transcend the ordinary.
If there was a cooler product that came across our radar screen in 2011 than Crucial Detail's Palm Bowl, we can't think of it. Steelite is the exclusive source for Crucial Detail products to the hospitality trade, but we're not quite sure if they are offering this incredible item since we don't see it on their catalog pages.

So....you just may have to demand it from them!

Complete Tabletop

More and more companies are moving towards a total tabletop offering.....and these two companies do it as well as anybody.

It's hard to imagine that if a tabletop decision-maker had these two catalogs  - Oneida and Steelite - that they would have to look much further for creativity, great pricing, and customer service.

Very complete.

Bauscher's Emotion takes advantage of odd shapes to highlight small, colorful portions.
Bauscher's new Emotion collection....perfect flexibility for today's creative chefs.

Bauscher Brings "Emotion" To the Table

emotion
For settings that delight...

The extraordinary design of the Emotion collection from Bauscher plays out in the “smile” of its porcelain pieces. The natural aesthetics of catenoid curves meet reduced basic shapes. Squares and rectangles swing in the rhythm of the theme, sometimes smoothly and gently, and sometimes to dynamic heights. The varied intensity of the curves alludes to a smile, creating a friendly bridge between the different depths of the pieces.
Design: Ottenwälder and Ottenwälder,
Great for both appetizers and dessert tastings.

Turgla's off-centered glass plate with sun design comes in red and turquise and is exactly the kind of creative, yet practical product that www.tabletopjournal.com likes to showcase.

Turgla to The Next Level

Speaking of interesting companies, Turgla, based in the suburban Washington, DC area is a pretty fascinating company, as well. Not only do Turgla's products bring beauty and color to your table....but they stand up to the rigorous demands of a busy restaurant or hotel operation.
