In the mornings into mid-afternoon, such establishments function as a place for a quick caffeinated pick-me-up or to work with minimal distractions. By evening, the hip coffee joint has transformed into an after work or weekend hangout, ideal for a cocktail in a quiet setting.

Coffee and alcohol as a mix aren’t new necessarily, but those in the cocktail and coffee industry are getting creative with combinations. In recent past, the Colorado Coffee Collective hosted a latte art throwdown and a coffee cocktail competition at Bean Cycle Coffee Roasters in Fort Collins. Such an event gave opportunity for creative minds to come together over our current culture’s two favorite beverage types.

With new and interesting drinks made of spirits and espresso, comes a unique opportunity for presentation.

Depending on the type of cocktail and the emotion attached to its consumption, one could serve using barware or traditional coffee mugs.
