The dining, drinking, and hospitality scene in our hometown of Baltimore has been changing for some time now with lots of great new options opening in the past few years. The latest exciting venue is the Sagamore Pendry Hotel which has just opened in the Fells Point area of Baltimore. Local television station WBAL has some great photos of the hotel opening on its website.

The Sagamore Pendry Hotel is just one of the projects from athletic apparel and footware company

Under Armour CEO Kevin Plank’s Sagamore Development Company as he attempts to bring luster back to his athletic company’s headquarter city. Another project that is about to open is his Sagamore Spirit Distillery which is to become home to his Sagamore Spirits Rye Bourbon which has been on the market now for a year or so. The distillery is set to open in late April with 3 building spread over 5 acres on Baltimore’s waterfront.

And, then later this year, beer brand Guinness (owned by giant Diageo) is set to invest a reported $50 million to open a brewery and taproom in its former whisky bottling plant just outside of Baltimore city limits. The craft beer revolution took off in Baltimore when in 2010, the Clipper City Brewing Company re-branded its beers as Heavy Seas. The Heavy Seas brand was launched and has been winning awards and growing steadily since. Heavy Seas beers can now be found up and down the U.S. East Coast.

There are now a number of award-winning breweries located in and around Baltimore, along with great mead and cider producers like Charm City Meadworks and Millstone Cellars.

So, for those folks who thought they knew our hometown of Baltimore but hadn’t been around here in a while, it’s quite possibly time to take another look. Charm City is steadily becoming a bit more charming.
