Another cool product that's hot from Service Ideas....their Flame-Free Thermo-Urn
Ok. So, the new Service Ideas catalog for 2013 is out. Don't have it yet? Get it.

And, here's why.....not only is it full of cool beverage service, buffet, and accessory products, it's got lots of great, helpful pieces of information. I mean...who even knew what "ETL Certification" was??? Plus, Service Idea shows off even more by using those fancy QR codes. Ok..ok....we already knew that Service Ideas was a pretty cool company, but now QR codes, too?!

Love the QR codes, love the info (did you know what "agion" is?), ...even love the product diagrams showing about all the replacement parts.

Very cool.

The Magisso Teacup by designers Vesa Jääskö and Laura Bougdanos has been awarded by the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art with the prestigious GOOD DESIGN award. The Magisso Serving Set by designer Maria Kivijärvi also received a GOOD DESIGN Award.

The Magisso Teacup, by Laura Bougdanos and Vesa Jääskö, makes enjoying a cup of high quality tea nice and simple. With the unique triangular bottom it is easy to adjust the strength of tea depending on your taste without making a mess. Just tilt the Teacup so that the strainer side of the cup is lower. Place the tea leafs in the strainer, pour hot water until the leaves are covered. Let it steep until the tea is just right. By tilting the Teacup again, the tea is ready to be enjoyed while the leaves in the strainer spread their natural fragrance, enhancing the flavor of the tea.

Founded in Chicago in 1950 by the iconic architects and designers Eero Saarinen, Charles and Ray Eames and Edgar Kaufmann Jr., GOOD DESIGN is the oldest and the world’s most recognized program for design excellence worldwide.

The GOOD DESIGN program received submissions from several thousand of the world’s leading manufacturers and industrial and graphic design firms from around the world representing the most important and critical mass of influential corporations worldwide in the design industry.

So....if you are looking to design a different tea drinking experience, consider the Magisso Teacup.

Not long ago, TabletopJournal wrote about the very creative and engaging teacup from Helsinki-based Magisso. Now, U.S. retailer for the Magisso teacup - a company named Finnstyle-  is giving a few of their serving sets away, it seems.

Still a very cool cup of tea!

AND....a great way to differentiate your tea service and the tea drinking experience for your guests.

Magisso has been designing great products for everyday use since 2006.
Design firm Magisso's award winning teacup is perfect for operators who want to provide a unique tea drinking experience to their guests.
With the worldwide tea market estimated at approximately $70 billion and targeted to nearly double in the next 3-5 years, it’s no wonder restaurateurs are working to enhance their tea drinking experience. And, with Starbucks opening its first tea store soon, you know the tea drinking experience is about to change.
That is why we find this creative tea cup from Helsinki design firm Magisso so intriguing.

Designed to engage the tea drinking in an easy, clean way in preparing their tea, the Magisso teacup is made from food grade SAN plastic features a removable strainer, and is dishwasher safe. The reason why it is made out of SAN is that is isolates the heat from the inside but keeps it cool/warmish from the outside. So you can hold the cup directly after pouring in the hot water.  What could be better?

We love tabletop products that engage the guest…. particularly when they are simple and practical to use, with award-winning design.
Earlier brewing tea with tea leafs and a separate infuser has been troublesome and messy. The new Magisso Teacup makes enjoying a cup of high quality tea nice and simple. Thanks to the triangle bottom, it is easy to adjust the strength of tea depending on your taste without making a mess. Just tilt the Magisso Teacup so that the strainer side of the cup is lower. Then place the tea leafs in the strainer, pour hot water until the leaves are covered and let it steep until the tea is just right. By tilting the Magisso Teacup the other way, the tea is ready to be enjoyed while the leaves in the strainer spread their natural fragrance, enhancing the flavor of the tea.

Finally there is an effortless way to enjoy a perfect cup of tea. All you need is tea and hot water.

Want to differentiate your tea experience? Here's your cup.....
