Lékué is an internationally prestigious brand present in over 40 countries and proof of this is the company’s presence in media worldwide.
We can only hope that Lekue will make its "Twin One" cutlery available here in the U.S.
Back in May, we wrote about a company called Lekue in a post called "Disposible Creativity" and their "Twin One" disposible cutlery that doubles as chopsticks.  Now, Lekue is announcing that they are going to open a U.S. based subsidiary. Lékué, a Spanish manufacturer of kitchen products that targets healthy, low-fat cooking, has formed a United States subsidiary, Lékué USA, which is based here.

“We are thrilled to debut a United States subsidiary to offer our culinary products in a comprehensive way to American families and to support American retailers,” said Xavier Costa, director of Lékué (pronounced lay-kway). “The USA collection is designed to be fun and adventurous, to help families celebrate life’s greatest moments, such as a three year old’s birthday party, a preschooler’s first attempt at making cookies and a kindergartener’s first day of school.”

Lékué products are made in Spain of platinum silicone, which is also used for such products as baby bottle nipples and medical tubing. The company said that this type of silicone is more elastic and stronger, much smoother and lasts longer, and the company holds the worldwide patent for it. The collection of more than 40 products includes the new Food Steamer Case for use in both traditional and microwave ovens, which allows foods to steam in their own juices without the addition of fats. Other products include the Baguette Buddy, Sandwich Buddy, molds for baking and building cakes, and cooking tools.

“We are extremely happy to announce the formation and start-up of Lékué USA for the fall selling season,” said Alan Senior, general manager of the Lékué USA subsidiary. “Over the past five years, Lékué has focused on developing an innovative range of children’s silicone culinary products that are easy and fun to use. Their themes of healthy eating and cooking resonate with parents and children, as there is a much greater desire to cook and eat healthy foods.”

Who knows? Maybe being recognized by TabletopJournal last May helped in some small way  Lekue to decide to open a subsidiary here! The only advice we would offer to the good folks at Lekue is to not overlook the opportunity in foodservice. Restaurateurs! Are you looking for a way to differentiate your service? Here you go!
