Libbey's new 2012 catalogs have hit the street and we have to say they are a good fit for this great American brand. With their product lines improving (i.e., Luigi Bormioli wineglasses, craft beer glasses, quality of World Tableware much improved) so is their approach to collateral materials. Strong consistent brand reinforcement and exactly what you would expect from this tabletop leader. Nicely Done.

The Front of The House catalog V.12 somehow seems more mainstream than we have come to expect from this creative tabletop company; hope that doesn’t mean that FOH is trying to be “mainstream” as we’ve always liked that as a company, FOH always seemed to carve its own way, not following the crowd; version 12 brings new products to existing collections; we especially like the new styles of table fabrics and their new kidwise collection; FOH…keep creative and fresh! We love it!

Rosenthal's new catalog of 220+ pages is artistically done as you would expect from this style leader; images are well done with individual items easy to discern, with item info readily displayed; not only is this one of the most stylish catalogs we have seen, its also one of the easiest to use. Also on CD, Rosenthal has done it right with this version;

Kahla Porcelain has so many things going for it, its just a matter of time before it all comes together for the hospitality industry; but, as good as the current brochures are (and they ARE creative), Kahla needs to put it all together in a single, creative publication that truly reflects the distinctive qualities of Kahla; we love the embossed cover of the Centuries brochure...its that  sensory  approach that has the hospitality industry taking a longer look at this interesting range.

The newest edition of the Impulse! catalog is a perfect reflection of this emerging brand; very retail in its appearance, the ’12 catalog has a soft, orange-hued theme, with some really terrific imagery; we especially like the vignettes showcasing multiple product lines and how well they can be used together; Nicely done and a great next step;

We like the artistry Dudson's new portfolio of products and the texture of the paper used here; Lots of b&w images, giving a unique, fashion magazine feel that makes it stand out from others; great storylines about the company itself; the creative people at Dudson definitely drove this project. Product info is easy to find and the overall book is very easy to navigate. Well Done.

A new year always brings about new products and new product catalogs. TabletopJournal has commented on how impressive some companies have become in their collateral materials and the thought occurred that we should provide some "formal" recognition of these very talented and creative efforts.

So, TabletopJournal will begin reviewing catalogs as we see them and providing you - our readers - with analysis and comments. There are some outstanding publications and we think those people deserve to be recognized. And, recognize them we will.....and giving each a score of from 1 -  5 spoons.

If you are interested in having your catalog reviewed by TabletopJournal's staff, send us a copy and we'd be happy to oblige and give you some feedback. Stay tuned for the first reviews later this week.
