From the makers of BAMBOOWARE comes Bamboo Studio's new HARVESTWARE, their newest in a growing line of eco-friendly dinnerware products for the hospitality and catering industry. Remember our friends at Bamboo Studio? Sure you do....these are the folks that brought us the the very cool BAMBOOWARE dinnerware products. Well, they're back at it only this time it's with their newest eco-friendly collection - HARVESTWARE. Created from biodegradable material that looks and feels like plastic, HARVESTWARE is made from plants, instead of oil-based products. Bamboo Studio's new HARVESTWARE uses renewable resources like corn, cassava, sugar cane, sugar beets, and wheat, as well as non-food plants, for its raw materials. In a landfill, HARVESTWARE is fully recyclable: micro-organizsms within the soil help the innovative product biodegrade into carbon dioxide and water, making it environmentally friendly and eco-safe. Durable and smooth, Bamboo Studio's HARVESTWARE meets or exceeds all FDA health and testing standards. It's also stain and odor resistant. Recyclable. Non-toxic, it contains no petroleum, BPA, heavy metal, or formaldehyde. Sturdy and long-lasting, HARVESTWARE is also microwave and dishwasher safe. Green technology for the tabletop! Love it. Quick note to tabletop companies that exhibit at trade shows....take advantage of the the opportunities (often, at no extra charge) that trade show organizers offer to promote your company and its products. Keep in mind that these promotional opportunities are also brand positioning activities, so how you choose to participate will reflect back on your brand and influence how your company is viewed. At the recent I nternational Restaurant & Foodservice Show of New York, there was one....yes, ONE....media kit from a tabletop company. Thant company was Bamboo Studio. We'll admit that media coverage of tabletop is not what it needs to be (except, of course, TabletopJournal) but for those who might want to give you some coverage these kits can be very helpful. From announcing new products, changes, etc to making sure the text is accurate to getting good product images out...the media kit is an essential part of the brand building process. And, best of all, it is essentially free! So, if you are exhibiting....have a proper media kit. | Bamboo Studio was the only tabletop company with a media kit. Inside, they announced the introduction of their new eco-friendly HARVESTWARE dinnerware. | The second recommendation to tabletop exhibitors would be to take advantage of free display areas. Most trade shows offer an area to showcase new or innovative products. And while these display areas often include a variety of products from all categories, why not have your products displayed there to represent the tabletop category? Put together a small display and a great storyline and get your products in one more location in the show. Remember, it is all about branding and creating impressions and to have your products included in an area called "NEW" or "INNOVATIVE" creates a positive impression on your brand. And..often, these additional exhibits come at no cost to exhibitors. At the same show, Libbey (shown above) and Steelite had great displays in the New Product Gallery that the show had set up. In addition, in a separate New Product Gallery listing in the show directory, companies like American Metalcraft, Bamboo Studio, Hollowick, all had nice additional listings Trade shows are expensive to participate in as an exhibitor. TabletopJournal has written on this subject multiple times offering tips on improving your chances for success and we still maintain that - despite the investment required - trade shows still offer the best opportunity to present your brand message and to meet both existing and potential customers. Make sure that as you develop your trade show plan, you include activities like we have listed above ...media kits...new product showcase opportunities....and more, so that you help maximize your company's return on the investment you're making. See you at the show! And, remember.... tabletop matters!
Bamboo is one of the world’s best sustainable resources. It can grow up to a meter or more per day and fully matures within 5 years.
Bamboo Studio’s line of BambooWare items are designed from the ground up to be as eco-friendly as possible. The process begins by taking the fiber of bamboo plants five years or older and grinding it into a fine powder. Utilizing a proprietary process, they mold this material into the sturdy, long-lasting items featured in their BambooWare line. They retain all the strength and beauty of traditional plastic materials such as Melamine, but with the added benefits of sustainability -- our bowls, plates, cups and utensils are all 100% biodegradable. Each piece of the BambooWare line is FDA approved food safe and can withstand even the toughest industrial dishwashers. For the first time, BambooWare combines the eco-conscious decision to purchase dinnerware made from Earth-friendly bamboo plants with the natural desire to own dinnerware that is stylish, colorful and fun. As Bamboo Studio's Rusty Burleigh told us "It's the greatest green story ever!" Rusty just may have a point. We impressed also with the ability to decorate Bamboo Studio's products with soy-based decals. Truly 100% Green!
| Since returning from the NRA Show in Chicago, we have probably talked about the Bamboo Studio line more than any other single line we saw at the show. I know we have written about this line before and you can go look up all the great attributes that both their all-occasion ware and their BambooWare have....but it was pretty incredible to hear - and see - first hand how impressed people were. My guess is if you have not already heard or read about Bamboo Studio's products, you soon will. Nice products....from nice people Check out their entire collection by going here: http://ecobambooware.com/ |
Well, with the postive reaction both quick and strong to our article on Bamboo Studio, we thought we'd ask a few specific questions. TabletopJournal got together with Bamboo Studio's Rusty Burleigh and here's how it went. | 1. Q: The suspect the bamboo dinnerware market in hospitality (like all tabletop) is incredibly competitive, where do you see it going and why? A: There are several companies that compete with bamboo or similar dinnerware products, but nobody with a product like ours, especially our BambooWare reusable product. We believe we are leading the market with this type of product because of its sustainability, the fact that it is dishwasher friendly, biodegradable, and is versatile in so many other ways.
2. Q: How can operators best use your bamboo dinnerware in their operations? A: Our disposable Bamboo Studio product is made from the sheath of the bamboo and is not pulped or processed, making it non-porous and very stackable due to its uniform shape and look. In fact, it stacks nearly like china. The fact that it’s non-porous allows us to have bowls, ramekins, and other serving items that most companies do not, so we give them maximum flexibility in their menus and serving. Aesthetically, we feel we have a better look than other disposable options for that mid-upscale event where you don’t want to – or can’t - use permanent dinnerware…plus, since we’re so eco-friendly, we meet all their “green” goals, as well.
Our BambooWare reusable product is a fantastic product for people looking for the “greatest green story ever” and something that meets both their economic and their sustainability goals. The fact that it’s both reusable and extremely break resistant makes it a good alternative where breakage is a concern. We’ve gotten a lot of interest from institutions who are trying to be both practical…and environmentally sensitive. Colleges, upscale hotels have been interested, for instance, for use in their banqueting, catering, and outdoor areas such as pools and patios.
| | 3. Q: I see lots of various companies offering bamboo dinnerware….what is unique and special about Bamboo Studio and its collection of dinnerware and accessories? A: Our disposable Bamboo Studio line is made from the sheath of the bamboo plant instead of processing or pulping the bamboo. The result gives us a consistent shape for stacking and also makes it non-porous, allowing us to make bowls and other serving pieces which other companies don’t have.
Our upscale, reusable BambooWare is an incredible product with a wide range of serving bowls and accessories that we can make in different colors. It’s FDA approved, can withstand the toughest industrial dishwashers, and can even be logoed or crested with soy-based decoration.
Both our product lines have great eco-friendly stories and, of course, are biodegradable, unlike melamine, plastic, and others. 4. Q: How do your bamboo tabletop products stack up price-wise? A: While our Bamboo Studio line is slightly more expensive than cheaper paper plates, but the extra cost to caterers and hoteliers to offer something unique and as sustainable and eco-friendly as bamboo is worth it in most cases. Our reusable BambooWare is comparable or below melamine products and with plastic being a petroleum-based product, we continue to be at or below the pricing levels of the upper end plastic products. Our customers truly appreciate the fact that we are an organic, sustainable product that immediately begins biodegrading when it eventually is disposed of, unlike the alternative products. | 5. Q: Bamboo Studio seems to have a full line of bamboo dinnerware, serveware, drinkware, and accessories. Where can hospitality customers buy Bamboo Studio products? A: Currently Edward Don, Sysco, US Foods and some regional paper companies are carrying the products. One of our big plusses is our wide range of items that we have available in both the Bamboo Studio line and BambooWare. We are adding regional dealers, along with a sales organization to support them. With the large number of leads being generated by every trade show we go to, we know it’s just a matter of time. | |
